Being startled by snakes is right up there. If I see a snake at a distance and I can give him a wide berth I’m pretty okay, but thinking about nearly stepping on one makes my stomach turn.

This is how I am too. Im more scared if the surprise of a snake than the snake itself. If I know it's there I can go up and check it out. I still dont like.

This is the first rattle snake I almost RAN over the top of chasing elk.

For guys that hate spiders, how do you feel about ticks? Spring bear hunting has made me hate them less since you’re covered in them all day and just have to deal with it

Personally I’m an avid needle hater. Coworkers talking about tattooed the other day made me have to go sit down and drink water so I didn’t vomit

That's how I feel about snakes, fine if I know they're coming but scare the bejeezus out of me if I don't see them. Unfortunately for me we have a garter snake nest somewhere in my back yard or one of my neighbors yards and I have a mini heart attack a couple dozen (or more) times per summer while mowing and doing yard work.
Dude I stepped on a garter snake one night in my bare feet when I went out to move the sprinkler. I don’t know where you live at but you probably hear me shriek from NE Washington

I was moving in on a bull 2 years ago, took a step over some brush and a log, heard a rattle BETWEEN MY LEGS. I felt like those guys at the combine with 40" verts, I straight levitated out of there. I killed the bull

SNAKES! There’s only 2 kinds in the world.
Rattlesnakes and cobras! If it doesn’t have a rattle it’s a cobra!

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned bees. I don’t care about snakes, spiders or much of anything else along those lines and even some bees don’t bother me. I’m talking about stepping in a nest of yellow jackets or running into a low hanging bald face hornets nest. That is simply nightmarish to me. One because it hurts to be stung once, let along 100s of times and secondly, because it would likely kill me.
The other one is chiggers. You can’t see them and don’t know anything is happened for a day or so. Then the itching starts and won’t let up for at least 5 days. One or two bites is not bad but I once had 150 to 200 chigger bites from my ankles to my neck. I literally thought about shooting myself!
The Entomologist in me says those are wasps and not bees if that makes you feel any better.

I really don't like ticks. Last year I learned that permethrin on your clothing and pack is your friend and went from having MANY ticks on me during a day of spring bear hunting to zero - the whole season.

I’m not afraid of spiders. But for some reason I HATE black widows. I’m cool with other spiders, but HATE black widows. They’re evil disgusting satan creatures. And that’s giving them credit

Man…I saw one in my shop last fall that could’ve carried away a pack rat without breaking a sweat lol

I don't like snakes but not necessarily terrorized by them as long as I can see them first I'm usually fine.

Kind of the same with bees and wasps.

I don't like needles of course but as long as I'm not looking at it I'm okay.

Although I can swim I have a high respect/fear of water.

Heights take a big toll on me. Driving across long and tall Bridges are very difficult for me to do. When I'm up high it knees get weak. It feels like I'm being pulled to the edge and going to fall off .

I'm 50 years old and have never flown. Not saying I wouldn't but it would take a lot of mental preparation to get on a plane.

This may sound strange to some but I grew up having a bad fear of choking, it even followed me into my adult life.

The thought of being lost in the mountains is pretty terrifying to me. Especially if there is impending bad weather.

This may sound strange to some too. I know that it's normal to be a cautious around carbon monoxide fumes but I think I have an extreme anxiety about being poisoned in my sleep. To the point I won't hardly use a propane source of heat even if it says indoor safe. I just can't hardly do it, went camping with some guys one time in a canvas tent they had a propane burner it was a miserable night, I made sure the front door was unzipped for air. I know it may sound funny but I just can't do it. The house I have lived in for the last 14 years is total electric. If I ever build a new house I'm sure it will be Total electric as well.

My fiancee hates snakes more than I do (seeing them from a distance is no help) and she stepped on one barefoot.
