Whats your go to wind blocking jacket, if temps are 15 in the morning and 40 to 50 in the afternoon? I am thinking about picking up a Jetstream.

Jetstream with a Kelvin vest under it will cover all that. Love my Jetstream.

You can layer with this really nicely. I like to wear a a merino short sleeve base layer, then over that I put a heavier merino top, or fleece, then pull the weathertop over that and you are set. Great for shedding layers in the warmer temps. I usually go down to the short sleeve merino base with this over it. You can stay cool in warmer temps due to the generous zipper, and all the venting zips..

I am a huge fan of my integral designs wind shirt. In colder temps I wear a long sleeved merino tshirts underneath, and sometimes even a wind block fleece over the top. In warmer weather where there is still a breeze I will just wear a tshirt underneath. I am always cold if there is the slightest breeze, but get too hot quickly if I am hiking...the wind shirt seems to be the answer for me. Both Luke and I are wearing the ID model in this picture:

Luke didn't feel like he used his enough, so I am pretty sure he sold it but I love mine. In super windy weather he wears a raincoat to cut the breeze, but otherwise
he tends to be a lot more naturally wind resistant than I am :)

I'd also look at the kuiu guide. I had the jetstream as well as have the guide now. The kuiu is not totally wind proof, but it will breathe much better than the guide.

A wind shirt would be great too, I just sold my kifaru wind shirt a while ago and regret it. And if noise is not a concern a good hard shell will block the wind as well.

Dang nice wolf Becca. I went on my first wolf hunt here in Wisconsin last fall. Didn't hear or see one. How did you mount it? Anybody try a Contrail Wind Shirt?

Thanks buckman! We actually had it rugged, and it turned out pretty neat. I will see if i can find a picture. The story from that trip was posted on the main page, the link is here:

I have been using a Patagonia Huodini, very happy with it, full zip, so easy on and off, hood, chest pocket and about 4 OZs. Becca sold me on the concept after our trips this past fall and I have been training with mine all winter and will not be without one now. I have a wildthings Multicam also, but I wish it was full zip.

Here is a review of a few I looked at.

Anybody try a Contrail Wind Shirt?

I have one, but haven't worn it much yet. It's very lightweight and wouldn't be the best choice busting brush and alders. I have a Jetstream and a Jetstream Lite for cooler stuff. I got the wind shirt for early season, warm weather over a light base layer. I'm a weenie when it comes to wind...even a soft breeze in the fall gives me chills, so I got the Contrail for when it's like 65 and a wind and I don't need full-on Windstopper.

Jetstream and/or Jetstream light. I own both and use both depending on the time of year.

Well I ordered a Jetstream from BlackOvis on sale and free shipping. I normally wear a large but went up to X-large so I can layer. Anybody know if these jackets run small or not?

True to size in my opinion.
