I have an older Pella vest that I really like but they don't make em anymore. Bought a Final Rise this year to try. Going to set the Pella vest up for lead shells when hunting in Iowa and the Final Rise vest will be for SD with steel or bismuth. Don't have to move stuff back and forth or worry about what's in my pockets if I get checked..

Final Rise IMO is the way to go. I ran a game hide vest for years and I was really missing out. That being said, I think wing works is/was in the same league but it’s damn near impossible to get one now. The marsupial yoke has too much padding that works negatively with proper mount.

Just my two cents, but I see Final Rise being the gold standard for years to come. Plus Matt is a genuinely good dude.

Have checked their (WW) web site repeatedly since 2020 and found it open for orders briefly late in the spring then closed. No information as to why there is such a ordering problem. FR gets my order. Have a Mother’s, shell pockets miniscule, shoulder straps are padded and interfere with gun mounting. Is an antique.

It’s a passion business and Bob really, really likes to hunt birds. You are not alone in your frustration but he builds every vest himself and isn’t in it for the money.

Love my final rise. Nothing I would change with it, no complaints.

Bought a Final Rise, best money spent. Pretty sure this will be the last vest I'll ever need. Well thought out and built.

Have been using the Final rise summit vest. Looking forward to another season with it. I purchased the sidekick this summer also. I think it will be great for this seasons early hunts and quick walks. Crazy but it holds everything I need. Have talked to/texted Matt quite a few times the last couple years and agree that he is one of the "good guys".

I like simple. Have had a Filson Strap vest for 15 plus years. One pocket on each side and a game pouch. can change the sizing to accommodate whatever I'm wearing, but I'm more of a minimalist.

Another final rise user. Got it last year and am happy with it so far. Hard to cough up that much money. My previous vest was a mothers brand- don’t think I could ever go back to a standard vest after using the strap style with a belt.

I looked at a lot of the vests mentioned here but found the Upland Wingshooting Vest from Duck Camp. It combined the style of a strap vest with some features that let it work like a small day pack. Took it on some dog work/hiking over Labor Day and it was great for some extended time in the field.

Just got a Final Rise thanks to this thread. I don’t know if it has the support of my Wing Works but damn, it’s light. If I keep them both, the FR will likely be my Chukar and blue grouse bag, with the WW being the ultimate pheasant/sharpie bag due to its load bearing capability.

Late in the thread, but my OCD likes to clarify things.
Bird vest- looks like a vest. Excellent for pheasant or quail hunt where you aren’t covering lots of ground between trips to the truck. Comfy. Holds enough stuff for short hunt. Inexpensive.
Upland strap vest- shoulder straps with hip/waist pockets. Very versatile. More options for carrying items. Weight proportioned to the hip area. Great for long distance/elevation hunts.

I hunted with a vest for around 23 years. Worked. some hunting buddies had strap vests. They liked them but I wouldn’t bite.
I got old. Back hurts Decided this will be my last vest.
Went with a Final Rise. Yes, I will say buy one, but any similar will be great. Pros and cons on all of them. Find what you like. Have a buddy that has a Bucks Bag. Tries mine on , loves it. Puts his back on and still likes his.
If your Chuckar hunting, go with a strap vest.
My only regret is I ordered mine with orange. Should have got it in all brown colors so I ca us it for turkey hunting

As of last year I'm using a Chief Upland which I like. I've used Filson, a Mother which I'm not sure are made anymore, LL Bean, Columbia. I've tried the Pyke. Marsupial Gear just came out with an upland vest system which also looks good. I'm not sure the perfect vest exists but I keep looking.

Anyone had hands on the both the chief upland and final rise. Pretty significant price difference for me considering I can make my own pouches to mount to the molle of the chief upland.

Matt Davis at Final Rise will be getting my business and all of my buddies' business until he stops making vests.

Comfy, light, durable...and if you need anything, you can literally text the dude and he'll take care of you.

My bird vest is one of the few pieces of gear I've purchased that I knew from the first time I used it that it will never be on the chopping block for potential upgrade, that's pretty sweet.

Those final rise vests look pretty nice, for the most part the design looks just like a WW vest. Are the shoulder straps padded? That's my main complaint with some of the others, the shoulder straps are padded with closed cell foam, which I find hot, sweaty and cumbersome. I prefer the plain web straps.
No foam or padding on the Final Rise, just some siliconized grippy material that makes mounting your gun automatic.

First hunt out I was so impressed with how well thought out the vest was. A lot of products hit the market these days and you're like "wtf were these guys thinking?" but with my vest it was like one "ah-ha" moment after another, obvious that the product had been tested rigorously prior to release with the way all the features are organized.
