Easter, He is Risen! Death has been defeated, and no one goes to the Father except through the Son.

Christmas, my Savior was born! For unto this day is born this day in the City of David a Savior.

Opening of Turkey Season. GGGGoooOOOOOOOOOBBBBBBBBBLLLLLLLEEEEEEEE. Dickie V. It's turkey killing time Baaaaabbbyyyyyyyyyyy!

It's getting close for sure. Had a pile of birds showing up on multiple cameras on our place in Russell County during deer season, like 15-18 bird groups with 4-5 strutters and a handful of jakes.

Cameras have dried up since. Was there this past Friday and Saturday adding batteries to cameras and some road work and saw a single tom. I think the burning my uncle has done in the last month or so has spread them around. Hoping to get to go the Wednesday after opener.

Gotta wait till April here in SC on public.

teal opener, duck opener, state park muzzleloader opener then thanksgiving. That’s it.

I’m with ya! I never would have thought that I would anticipate the turkey opener as much as any other season, but I do.

I have to drive completely across the state to hunt them, but something about turkey hunting hooked me. I enjoy all turkey hunting, but the mountain merriams is what I really look forward to… nobody around, vast mountains, and gobbles breaking the morning silence… I love it

First camping trip of the year, always have something new to try (this year should be more comfortable with a new bag and higher r value pad, and one of the dumbest birds in the world constantly making you feel even more dumb than them

Just over a month and I will be driving east for the opening week, then hopefully I can make time for a second trip

One of the dumbest birds? Oh please don't mistake these birds for their white feathered friends in pens. These birds have an innate ability to live, unfortunately the thriving part is being doubted. There are some two year old toms that will make you think you are the latest and greatest turkey hunter, then you run into the bad boys. Those smart jokers is what has brought me back year over year for 50+ of these years.

One of the dumbest birds? Just look up in an old thesaurus synonyms for sneaky, underhanded, pesky, deceptive, shifty, scheming, elusive, escapist, indefatigable, just a ghost!!!!!!!!!!! Just write them all down, keep them in the top of your hat, when he gets away, take your hat off and read a few, then write another word down and smile, you've spent another day in the turkey woods.

That's just the tip of the iceberg for these majestic thunder bearers, that is another creation my Almighty God gave us to ring in Spring. He gave us new life in the trees, the blossoms on the fruit and dogwood, the purple in the Wisteria, the grasses greening up, the freshness and warmth to the morning, the sun shining brighter, the smell of fresh turned soil from gardens about to be planted, creeks a little harder to cross because they are full, the air so sweat Southerners don't even need sugar for tea, it's spring time in Bama and the gooooooobbbbbbbbbbbbbllllllllllllllllllllllllleeeeeeee. Wake up woods, it's time to play, winter is over.
