Hey guys,

I just sent my rifle off to be blueprinted and have my terminator brake installed (300RUM). I know brakes really ramp up the noise and mz blast for the shooter. What I want now is to find a form of hearing protection that can be used/accessed very quickly for those times when you don't have minutes of observation/shot preparation to get ready for a shot. I have been using the foam disposables but they can take 20-30 seconds to expand and work and sometimes ( as we all know ) a guy only has enough time to shoulder and shoot.

thanks!

Mike.

I use what Justin recommended. If im sneaking in somewhere I will put the left one in only as that is the ear that takes the blast the most as a right handed shooter. I wear them around my neck as well as kinda up on my hat. If you remember you have them they are very fast. However if you jump a bull your probably wont remember as was the case for me this year.

Thanks for the input. Justin do the foamy ends on that headband take a while to expand or are they are harder foam/rubber?

Jfronk, those are pretty slick, do your ears get sore though if wearing them all day?

Mike.

Mine never got sore. The black piece on those are rubbery so it forms to your ear pretty well. Check out how to measure your ear on the surefire website so you get the correct size and you shouldn't have a problem.

I keep a set of regular foam ear plugs tied onto all my hats with a extra set in my bino case. It's quick but when things happen fast, your SOL regardless of what ear protection you have unless you just leave it in. My gun kicks like a damn mule, but I refuse to run a brake just for that reason.

While dog and duck hunting I wet some TP and leave it in my ears, just as a barrier to the shots. I can still hear pretty good and I don't get the ringing ears as bad.

Walkers Game Ears ear muffs. Put them on and leave them on. Stereo sound that amplifies sounds in the woods, you can hear your partner (guide) when he whispers to you, but it blocks out the gun blast.
