I learned today by accident from their web site , that a Christensen Arms Evoke in 270 Winchester has a 1:7.5 twist rate.
I have a 270 Winchester chambered Benelli LUPO that I like a lot, but it is listed as having a 1:10 twist rate.
I am a rookie reloader, and wondering about shooting heavier, higher bc bullets.
Anybody?

I think it’s a great idea. Every year bullet makers will bring out more heavy bullets, so even if you don’t need a fast twist now, there may be a wonder bullet coming out soon. 🙂

Imho the only downside of fast twist is that lighter bullets can be spun too fast. Some like Hornady vmax have a 290k limit before coming apart. With a 7.5 twist that’s just over 3k mv. If you were shooting vmax’s at over 3k in a 1:10 rifle it would be fine, but in a 1:7.5 you may run into issues. Where this is an issue is in a 25-06, running a 75g vmax. It can be pushed to 3600+, but in a 7 or 7.5 twist they blow up. In a 10 twist they work fine. Hence why it was originally a 10 twist
