Faroe Islands

Anyone been to Faroe islands. I added it to my bucket list and trying to get aome information on it. Looks like an amazing place.

Never been there, but if I recall, its a good spot for whale and great white shark sightings. That is until the orcas show up...

The Faroe Islands are on my list too. I have been to Iceland a few times and the rest of Scandinavia, but never the Faroes.

Hoping to do a fishing trip there next year. Interestingly, there are no rivers - though rain will create a short-lived river - and all the brown trout are found in lakes. There is a sea trout and salmon fishery as well.

Cool part of the world.

My bad, I was thinking of the Farallon Islands. However, there are porbeagle sharks around the Faroe Islands, and they are the closest living relative to white sharks.

Lot's of whales around the Faroes. Up to the individual if they want to go to the Grind. Or not.

They do a pilot whale hunt where the whole community gets together and butchers them and distributes the meat. It seems like a pretty great time.

I remember reading about that one time and how GP was all over them about it. If I recall the tradition goes back hundreds of years and folks have developed specialized spears or knives for the hunt.
