Fall Bear

Okay, apologize for my lack of knowledge.

I'm in the midst of trying to see if it's worth going bear hunting one last time this winter in N. ID? With the snow we've got, is it worth going out? First year bear hunter, and still learning. Just trying to decide if it's wise to waste 3 hours of drive time for a weekend or will the bears start going into habitation?

I can’t say what the situation is in northern Idaho, but I lived in northwestern Montana for quite a few years and bears were almost all denned up by Halloween. I’d assume it would be similar where you’re at but could be wrong.

I am out cougar hunting and just ran across bear tracks at 3k feet in eastern Washington. I would have assumed they would have been in bed for a while by now.
