Anyone have tips for a novice fall bear hunter? hunted elk for years in idaho. Going to try for a fall Oregon bear heading towards the imnaha unit & was wondering if anyone has some advice
To find bears in the fall, find their food. They are in a period of hyperphasia and packing in as many calories as they can to prepare for winter. Acorns or berries are good sources to focus on. I'll be bear hunting in Colorado in a few weeks and I'll be focused on berry patches and an elk carcass or two if some bowhunters are successful in that area.
