Long shot...but has anyone chased mouflon and aoudad at Lake Amistad near Del Rio, TX? Looking to hunt there around the beginning of February in unit 4 or 5.

Public land. They have an exotic hunt that runs from January 21st to February 24th, the units are heavily pressured and don't hold mouflon or aoudad like they used to, but they can be found in small pockets in the right units if the conditions are right, or so I hear, I really want to get a fair chase mouflon or aoudad with my bow and I should have a kitchen pass to burn since we're going to see our niece in NC in the beginning of January.

I've gone the past 2 years. There really are no Aoudad there. I know of one killed about 10 years ago. They also claim there are blackbuck there but I think they are also phantoms. Even the game warden I spoke with said he has never seen either.

When the season starts all the locals usually chase the sheep around until they completely leave the property (takes about a week or 2). The sheep know where the property boundary is on the back of Area 5 and they'll literally sit 100 yards away and taunt you lol. After a month or two they slowly mosey back into the hunting area. I saw a HUGE ram last year with about 4-5 females. Couldn't quite get the job done. Did get a small 8 pointer though. It's very rugged hunting. Because of the rocks, every step you make it sounds like you are wearing armor "chink, chink, chink". Area 4/5 historically hold the Mouflon. 4 can only be accessed by boat. I know of a large ram shot in 4 already this year.

Don't want to be a buzz kill but odds are if you go for a few days you won't see any Mouflon. If you are super lucky you may come across a small group. My advice would be go during deer season so you have a shot at a buck or doe as well. There are also Spanish goats everywhere but you can't kill them. I've been soooo tempted :)

P.S. I'll be there the first week of December

Awesome info, planned on hunting whiteys in Livingston at our place, but if I get a buck I'll join in December if you can give me a time frame. I read about the locals and the pressure the sheep get which is why I was looking at going around February. Wished I had a boat so I could access unit 4, thought about going across in a yak but the wind would have to be perfect going to and from. I'm all for tough hunts though, I wanna challenge myself before I head back to Utah and figured this would be good practice. Let me know about December.
