Smacked a deer with my 2018 F150 and want to replace the front bumper with something aftermarket/more substantial (i.e. Ranch Hand, Fab Fours). Suspension is stock and I really do not want to upgrade if possible. Does anyone have any insights or recommendations?

Following. I smacked deer/hog with my last two f150s and replaced with a ranch hand on the first (heavy) and a rough country (lighter, more factory number profile, non USA made) on my 2nd. Generally on an F150 I think the lighter rough country was a better option but with my current truck I definetly went down the rabbit whole with more expensive made in USA options but still haven’t replaced factory (until I probably smack another deer)

For the F150s, Ranch Hand only makes the summit model which doesn’t have the 4” pipe across the front like the Super Duty Legend version, and is therefore significantly less weight than the Legend version. I’ve used the summits on both my F150 and F250 with no adverse effects except fuel milage. They will cost you about 10% in fuel milage, which I don’t think is caused by the added weight but rather the increased drag.

I had a proline on my first tundra, they are also what is put on LEO rigs here, though that could be regional since they are made here.

The tundra I had has hit 3 mulies (that’s why he put the proline on) and 2 after the bumper and there was no sign of impact on the bumper.

Since you're in MT I'd check out MOVE and TDK. If I was going to put one on it would probably be a TDK

I ran a ranch hand replacement bumper on my 16 from 16-24. No adverse effects. Stock suspension with a 3/4” leveling block. Stock tires.

Ali Arc.
I have had the Ali Arc front bumper replacement on two trucks and a bull bar on my F350.
Lots of truckers run them, they work well on moose and elk.
They are about same weight as the stock bumper.

I replaced the front bumper on my 2015 F150 with a Road Armor Vaquero
I was being kind of picky because I didn't like the overhang on some of the others and definitely wanted headlight and full radiator protection.
I installed it in my driveway with a little help.
Not easy but not too difficult to install...I would guess it weighed around 150lb.
Great look and fitment.
Have not tested it yet....Hope you don't jinx me!
I had previously installed Eibach springs for leveling with 5100s on lowest perch.
Never really felt or saw any difference in ride or ride height.
If you need to level, use proper springs, not the Toyota method of preload with shock perch.

I have a Fab Four on my front and an expedition one on my rear. Big difference in build quality, expedition one way nicer, welds, finish, etc.. It is also a bit heavier. If I did it again I’d spend more $ and get an expedition 1 up front.

No matter what you do there is going to be loss of ride height in the front when you remove the lightweight OEM bumper for a heavy . I would suggest getting a bumper with the option for a winch for self recovery, whether you get the winch now or not. Then getting a level kit with front spacers are an easy driveway install followed up by an alignment and your back to factory ride height

Check out Trail Ready. My F350 has had one since new in 2013. It still looks very good.

Ranch hand is a lot of weight on your stock springs. Dealers in Texas order Superdutys with the snow plow option when planning to use that bumper.
Does its job know of multiple deer and cow hits with no damage
I had one on a 3/4 T and bounced a couple deer. One side bent in 1/4”.

I think it would be heavy for a 1/2T

My ride height barely changed at all with a beefy steel Road Armor bumper but I had already installed Eibach springs.

Thanks again for the intel guys. A little update here:

I ended up ordering the RH Summit for my truck. The bumper retails for $1,775 and insurance ended up cutting me a check for $1,475 so I am only into this thing for $300 out of pocket. I am anticipating that I will want to add a leveling kit but we will have to see how that shakes out after install.

I'll report back once the bumper arrives here in March.
