External reed or internal mouth reed for cow calls?

Alright guys, I’m hunting OTC Colorado and I just want to pick a few brains. What do you have more success calling in elk with? An external Reed or internal mouth reed? (If you had to pick one)

Both will produce sounds that will fool elk. The mouth reeds are nice because you will have both hands free while calling.

Both have their place. I use both frequently. I like making mature cow sounds with external reeds, and younger cow calf sound with a mouth reed. And I exclusively use mouth reeds for bugles. I feel I can make a better sound with a mouth reed and a bugle tube, than the bugles with reeds already on them.

Bite and blow cow call, carry a couple at least and different brands for a different sound from each. Primos, Carlton, Sceery all make good ones, many others out there too.

Carlton's Fight'n cow call is my favorite, but i also carry a Hoochie mama and some mouth reeds

I use both for cow call sounds, but mouth reed only for bugle. There are pros and cons to both and depending on situation i will use one or the other.
