Looking for feedback on inov8 roclite 400g pro v2 boots.

Specifically:
1. how high they actually are and if the ankle Protection is decent or not.
2. How are they sidehilling/off trail?
3. How are they under a pack?

I plan to use them for training hikes with 60 to 75lbs and then in early season hunts in steep but short, rocky, terrain.

Also interested if anyone has experience with the 8 inch goruck mv2s. They are light and tall, and I don't need gtx but the grip looks weak.

Overall I'm looking for some lightweight boots that are not too stiff before I go and buy some salomon quest and just move on.

Cheers

I have some GoRuck MacV1's, which are way less structured than the MacV2's and have a less aggressive outsole. I got them on sale awhile back to just use for rucking and working out. I actually really like them for that use case. Build quality is pretty good (similar to a name brand athletic trainer), and I had to get a size 11 as they do run about a 1/2 size large (the size 11 is actually an EU 45...I've come to size off the EU size more as I find it more accurate). The MacV2's have a toe and heel stiffener in them, and a more aggressive sole. If they fit you, they actually would probably be a good early season boot for dry conditions (there is no goretex, and the boot actually has drain holes on the bottom to let water out..and in of course...)
