Experience with Barrett Fieldcraft?

Justin, mine shoots phenomenal. LOP is longer than I’d prefer with the factory stock. I had a nice walnut stock made for it. Family heirloom kind of thing, but it shoots even better now. Shot a little Muley near Bailey. 139 Scenars, 140 Berger’s, and 147 ELD-Ms all shoot about the same.

Accurate Innovations made it using a piece of wood my grandfather cut to make his own stocks decades ago. In fact, elk hunting this year my uncle brought my grandfathers old rifle with the stock he hand carved in the 50s or 60s from the same tree my stock was made from.

My stock has a full length CNC machined aluminum bedding block and aluminum pillars. Shoots even better than with factory stock.

Two thumbs up for the Barrett Fieldcraft. Mine is in 6.5 Creedmoor with 21" barrel. After trying nearly every kind of factory ammo available in Alaska found it likes the Hornady Precision Hunter best, anything faster tends to open up the group. Shoots .7 MOA consistently.

@prm that stock is gorgeous. Free floated?

Took my one year old to the local cabelas today to go “look at all the animals”. At least that’s what I told the wife...

They only had one Fieldcraft in stock. 6mm Creedmoor with the 21” barrel. But I got to handle it and wow, I was very impressed. Fit and finish was impeccable. Action cycled very nice and the trigger was crisp with no overtravel.

The gun balanced well. I think I can safely say I’d prefer a little more weight forward. Either the 24” long action, or the 18” with a suppressor.

I guess it’s a good thing it will be a bit for me to save up some spare funds. Trying decide between the 7mm-08, 30-06 or the 280ai if they release it.

I know there’s an LGS close by that has several in stock. May need to go and check out the other configurations.

Tartan, yes, free floated.

I did switch the stocks around shooting this and the factory stock. Shoots quite well with both, but a little better with the walnut.

It currently is wearing a Leupold 6x36 with LR Duplex. I do like the weight savings vs. the SHV. Just over 7lbs scoped with the walnut stock.

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed at all, especially shooting 143 eldx wether handload or factory. I have an 18” that I had cerakoted and am very happy.

Been shooting factory ammo around half moa but just got the gear for some hand loads.

Found a good load in the new FC. 42.7 RL16, 140 Berger VLD hunting (-.090), Hornady brass, 210 primer, 2735fps. Got a 2.5-3" group (3 shot) at 500 yards the other day. Old rifle did the same with 43.0 RL16 at the same velocity FWIW.

The Fieldcrafts are the best made lightweights hands down. They did everything right from the trigger, bedding, magbox (short actions anyway). Actually a real bargain vs trying to build one.

All that being said, the stock just does not work for me. I’ve went to rebarreling Kimber Montana’s for about the same price. The Montana stock just works for me, and works well in about any position I’ll be shooting in.

Wish the Fieldcraft stock did feel good in my hands, because have everything else going for them.

Have one in .270 and it shoots the HSM 150 Berger loads into a half inch for three shots. Couldn’t be happier with this thing. It’s a NULA on the cheap

Decided to finally register so I could start posting. Love my Fieldcraft in 6.5 CM. It shoots pretty consistent 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards with Factory Hornady 143 ELDX. This was a group from yesterday.

I’ve got one in 6.5 cm and it shoots lights out.. excellent quality and lighter than my 2 Kimbers mountain ascent rifles. Barrett has made the best factory production lightweight rifle in my humble opinion. I will definitely purchase another one soon.

I have the standard 21' 308 . Well I should say Barrett has had it for 2 months. Just received an email from them yesterday . Still cant figure out why it will not group . Luck of the draw. . Hope your luck was better than mine. My season starts in 2 weeks !!

Looking for a light weight packing rifle under 6.5lbs, how does this compare to Christensen Arms Ridgeline? I understand the Ridgeline weighs 1.1 pounds heavier but other than that what are the opinions out there of the two?

Yea I’ve been shooting the one I have using factory 143 ELDx. It doesn’t group very well. Gonna try other ammo. It’s a sweet rifle. Very well made and light. But hopefully can get it to shoot
