I just sold my MR Metcalf to get a Beartooth - but I'm also waiting to see what Exo launches this spring before I pull the trigger.
I loved my MR - anyone have any experiences w/ Exo packs- pros/cons? Thanks in advance!

I had an earlier Exo and now have the MR. The exo is more flexible, lighter overall build. Much better in lightly loaded or daypack mode. The MR is stiffer, better padding, more stable and supportive under load.

I prefer the MR. (Have the Pintler and Marshall bags)

EXO fan here. I have k3500. I carries weight just fine IMO. I also have a Kuiu Ultra 6000 but the EXO is way better. I have carried 55 lbs training with no issues. Normally my "daypack weight is 25 lbs or so depending on food. Wear it all day no problem. I'm 66 years old and have backpacked for years. One of the most comfortable packs I've owned or tried.

I have been researching packs and have narrowed down my top choices to the Exo Mountain 5500 pack. The top contenders were the MR Marshall and Metcalf and the Stone Glacier 6200 and 6900. I am interested to hear from those that have used the Exo 5500 and the other packs listed above to help determine if I am making the correct decision from my research. I would prefer a US made pack, outside pockets for a spotter and possibly a small tripod, and for the main pouch zipper to be on the outside edges of the pack vs down the middle of it. Any experience with this pack or others that I should be considering is appreciated. Thank you

Based on what you described as your preferences, the Exo is one of the only packs that fit that bill. I have the 5500 new K2 frame...Do it, you won't regret it.

I just bought my exo 3500 a month or so ago, right before the beartooth came out. If I had known about the beartooth I’d probably have gone that route but I’m happy with my exo so far on training hikes with 70 pounds.
