my quick review..
i received my pack a little over a week before my muzzy elk hunt with some buddies.
received the pack and threw some weight in it and started to get familiar with it. I am an avid backpacker and immediately noticed how much more vertically rigid the pack was.
anyways. I packed it up with my day hunting type gear, and it compressed down great. the way it fits compressed down allows me to shoot with my bow, or muzzy while wearing it.
back to the hunt...about 3 days in by buddy connected with a great cow! not only was i excited for the steaks and burgers soon to be hitting the table, but I was STOKED for the pack out!
I have packed out a few elk quarters with regular pack frames...hated it.... i packed a BIG rear quarter, along with all of my normal gear, and it was....comfortable!
I think i sold 2 of the guys on this hunt on a pack as they were wimpering about their loads the entire way..and when they saw me loading mine up on the pack they were quite skeptical of how itd work.
anyways..here are a few pictures from the hunt and pack out.
cliff notes.. i do not regret a single cent spent on the pack, love it!

Finally got to test out my exo pack. Used it to pack out this buck for a friend in North Georgia. The pack worked great and I am proud to own one. I'm not an expert when it comes to backcountry hunting or backpacks, but this pack works great for me!

I'm sure it's somewhere in the last 75 pages but are the side pockets the same size on both 3500 and 5500?

Steve, just got back from a high country buck hunt----3 of us were on the hunt and we all had exo's, packed out 4 deer. Just a quick note to say thanks and once again, they worked great!

Got to finally use the pack for what it was intended for on a North Idaho antlerless whitetail hunt. Granted it was not the heaviest load ever packed out by an exo, it was kind of humerus to my wife and I that it fit perfectly being whole.
As we snuck around the corner on the logging road I seen the doe and asked my wife if she wanted to shoot her but she replied with a no go ahead. I think she could see the twinkle in my eye that I wanted to shoot. As we were walking up to her I seen the fawn run off into the timber to just stand there and watch. I told my wife there is her fawn if you want to shoot it. This time she said no it's to cute. As I turned to keep walking to the doe the next thing I heard was the report of her 243. I looked at her and said, I guess you changed your mind? Lol. It was a great fun time with just the wife and I that was a very much needed break away from the real life. I was very happy with how the pack worked and can't wait to put some elk quarters in it this next year.

Just got back from my coues deer hunt literally a half mile from the Mexico border. Brought two packs. A Outdoorsmans pack and a new EXO 3500. Started day one with the Outdoorsmans pack as I knew it well, also it was hot and we were hiking far and high so I wanted a hydration bladder. Problem is the terrain is so thick and nasty. Words can't describe how damn thick and thorny it is. You literally have to bob and weave, duck and dodge just to get through all the cat claws, ocotillo, etc. Everything pokes you, cuts you, and rips clothing and the Outdoorsmans pack was just too big, bulky and wide.

Day two I switched to my Exo 3500 and it was night and day difference. It felt like it was part of my back, it hugged it tight, and it was nice and snug on the sides. I had the straps all tight to make it compact as possible. Threw a bladder in the outside center pocket and it worked great. Carried Swaro 15's, tripod, puffy, snacks, glassing pad, and various small items. Not crazy heavy, around 20-25 pounds but carried like a dream. I thought for sure it would rip at one point but it never did. Unfortunately we didn't get a dear, but we were all very impressed with the pack and how well it worked and felt.

No pick of pack but this was taken on top of a crazy steep mountain after a failed stock. Hard to tell but hands down the worst terrain I've been in, like a complete wall of thorns. Having a pack that compacts down and moves with your body is critical to get through this crap as you are constantly bending over, contorting left and right, stretching, reaching, anything to navigate the maze. You can see Mexico and the fence in back.

I've gotten to make a couple pack outs with mine. The deer as really awkward the way I had it strapped in. I'd say my pack weight was around 125+ with the field dressed buck. The way I had the head folded back put the weight way too far away from my body. I was glad I only had to pack it a mile. I look forward to our next adventure together.

Man!! I've been thinking how I would do the same. Looks like I won't do it that way..lol. But you got it done. I was thinking to somehow place the bucks a$$ in the meat shelf legs down, body and head up as we grab the horns or ears slung over shoulder? Man, I don't know. It's got to be packed out whole, only field dressed like yours. Looks good though.

I'm wanting to order the load panel/ beaver tail for my 2015 Exo 3500 but I'm wondering if I run only the load panel without the bag can I still use the lid. If so how does it all attach.
Some pics would also be great.
