Glad the Video helped. SG does make a nice pack, they were my second choice after extensive research but the EXO just has all the features I was looking for in a pack and I'm glad I went with it. Hopefully the guys at EXO can get their own instructional video out soon that will be specific to their packs.
Yes, thanks for the video! I need to rewatch again and apply that to my pack. I do hope Steve and them make a video soon....at least before my hunt but preferably before I take many more heavy loaded hikes. :)

Thanks for the replies. I'm at work right now so I can't play with it. I have the lumbar pad on the small of my back (kinda just above where the top of my pants sit).

Are the load lifters digging into me because I don't have the meat shelf? Here's the only other pic I took that day. Not sure if you can tell anything. The load lifter on the right side (not shown in pic) was giving me more trouble it seemed than the left).

Based on pic- the pack is definitely not adjusted correctly. For one the load lifters are sucked in way too tight to the shoulder straps; as they should be sitting at a 30-45 deg angle and not be pulled in so tight/ close to the body or shoulder straps. I would give Steve at EXO a call and you could send the pics. The torso length IMO needs to be adjusted and less pressure put on LL.

You will get it dialed in.

You need to lower the yoke/shoulder straps closer to the lumbar pad. I have the first generation which would mean sliding the yoke down and tightening the strap that connects the yoke hip belt and lumbar pad

For what it is worth- I believe based on pic, probably need to go the other way, and raise pads to adjust torso.

For the LL to work right they should be about 30-45 deg angle; and ideally coming ( exiting from) off the shoulder straps about at the point of the clavicle ( collar bone )- or slightly superior to clavicle. Also the LL are the last straps to be tightened up; you want them just tight enough to to hold load in to body and make the pack vertical in relation to the hips.

When done right about 70 % of weight carried on hips and 30% carried on shoulders. Shoulder straps will wrap around top of shoulders and when there is not a lot of weight in pack the LL may be lifting up the shoulder straps a bit and create a slight gap. With much weight the gap will go down, but angle of LL will be correct.

Hopefully the above makes sense.

BTW- I think based on pic and thinking about it- the weight you are carrying in the pack is too low in the pack and it is dragging down to bottom of pack and pulling whole pack down on to your buttocks and also messing up LL angle. So I would get the weight up a bit. Because even if waistbelt is in correct position- if the weight in pack ( or in this case between pack and frame) is too low, it can drag the pack itself down and mess up LL angle and also affect the weight amount on shoulders.

Yes, that all made sense and I really don't think I can move the weight up until I get the meat shelf. I have a bag of concrete strapped in now and need both straps holding it. Just did 1.5 miles in my neighborhood and it was still uncomfortable. I think the torso length is adjusted right but I'll have the wife take a pic later and I'll post it.

Thanks

Meat shelf means nothing if pack is not adjusted correctly. Once pack is correctly adjusted, the meat shelf will keep your load 8" up from bottom.

I agree, the meat shelf is for keeping the weight where you want it, it doesn't have anything to do with pack fitment. I loaded 75 lbs. Of bagged rock salt in mine without a load shelf and had no problem at all with comfort or the load lifters biting into the shoulders. I don't think that is the problem for you Finch.

Finch ... have you checked to make sure the titanium frame is in the slots on the back of the belt? That is about the only thing I can think of that might allow the load lifters to come that far forward.

Yes, they are in the slots.

SHTF : Thanks for the video! That explained a lot. I'm going to put a more manageable weight in my pack and try to get it adjusted correctly today or tomorrow.

Finch,
I just got back in town from being gone for 10 days. Give me a call here in the next day or so and we can run over the fit for you.

A quick note to raise the concrete bag, you can criss-cross the compression straps to form an X and that will allow you to raise it higher.

I got the email that it'd be ready to ship in 10 days, on May 27. No word on shipment yet, any aprox ETA? Can't wait to "Last step is*mandatory. You must abuse your pack with ridiculous loads, miles of trail and if you have time, send us a pic of our baby in use." 😁

We are finally cruising along and a lot of packs shipped last night and a lot more will today. Took us about a week longer than we were hoping to get everything checked in, Quality Controlled and assembled.

You should have the tracking confirmation at the latest tomorrow night.

Thanks for your patience,
