I'm considering buying a K4 and selling my kifaru packs.
After comparing the exo and kifaru gun sling systems, I think the gun bearer is superior. I have used it for 5 years now and have zero complaints.
With the exo system, idk if i can get my old shoulder back that far to unclip it.
Has anyone combined the gun bearer and the K4?

I use the universal gun bearer and it works great.

There a few guys who have been able to retrofit the standard gun bearer to thread into the Nalgene bottle holder molle

Reg gun bearer lower hanging off the water bottle Molle on K4 and a universal upper gun bearer at the top of frame pack is the best combo I’ve used so far. Rifle rides behind shoulder, release strap hangs over front of shoulder.

Rifle weight on the water bottle area is WAY better than hanging off the side of the belt.

It can be done. It's not easy, and it's not clean. If you're handy with sewing, go for it. If you're not, you might end up with a mess.

How do you like the universal at the top? I’ve been using the SG one for the top and it doesn’t function as quickly and easily as I would like

It works ok. I think I would prefer a rubber strap to aid in quicker ID when grabbing for it blindly. I’ve gotten quick w it and it’s more or less snag free. The weight riding on the back of the belt is worth any sacrifice made going from front carry.

@Bluumoon , are you able to get the rifle strapped in without taking the pack off?

I don’t have a k4, but have recently been looking. My initial thought was Exo stock cradle and the kifaru top strap would be a good carry system with rifle under armpit, barrel out in front.

I have a SG with the universal gun bearer.

I currently use Kifaru lower with a Slick Sling upper and it is amazing. In the pic below I was using the Exo carrier but I prefer the Kifaru one for the open cradle instead of the elastic cuff, much easier to get the rifle in and out of. I can get some pics of how I have everything attached later, but you can make a slick upper with just a length of strap and a clasp on the front of the shoulder strap. I can easily and quickly get rifle out and put it back on without taking my pack off, and the barrrel is not in my way hiking around.

I can reach over my shoulder and do it by feel or leave hip belt buckled and swing pack to my right side.

I want to try the new slick sling upper, which they won’t sell separately. Better yet a padded L shape at the top of the frame w a rubber strap would keep rifle snug to the frame and in reach.

For me the Kifaru lower is good to go (a little heavy), the upper is a work around.

Could be just bc you have a full load, but the upper part of the carrier looks like it lets the rifle have a lot of slack for movement. I want mine pinned to the frame (same spot every time I reach back), in an ideal would there would also be a way to keep it from touching the back of my shoulder.
