I currently have an Exo K2 5500 pack but have been thinking seriously about purchasing a K3 6400 bag as an upgrade and using it on the K2 frame. I have no experience with the K3 bags, but you know how it is when a newer model comes out, you convince yourself that you need it. For those of you that have used both, should I do it? What are the pros/cons?

If you’re going to do this, I’d go ahead and get the K3 belt as well. I have a K2 3500 with the K3 belt. The new belt is far superior and well worth the money.

Belt is worth the upgrade. 5500 to 6400, I'd spend money elsewhere. 5500 is a great bag and is bigger than 5500 with how they measured volume at the time.

This is what I was thinking as well in regards to the bag, which is why I wanted some feedback from anyone that had any hands-on experience to tell me otherwise. I hadn't even considered changing out the belt, but will definitely be doing that now. Thanks to all for your input.

The 6400 bag is not worth an upgrade from the 5500. The K3 frame is worth upgrading for the frame extensions.

As mentioned, there is not a space gain with the 6400. Functionally there is no practical difference. Spend the money elsewhere.

Personally, I preferred the K2 belt for reliability and if not for the extra frame hight I would have kept the K2.

Have the 5500 and tried the 3200 bag layout and besides the bladder sleeve the side tube pockets seemed smaller (think I read something that the tube is the same size in both bags) and the Velcro attachment at the top may take some time to get use to.

been using the older 3500 bag for my day weekend hunts and feel this with the 5500 are great together. Wish the 3500 had the center clip to lift the top outside edge of the bag like the 5500 did.

I second the k3 belt. And if you need a little more angle lift to get the weight off the top of your shoulders- the k3 frame is the way to go.
