Ever seen this before?

I have been elk hunting most my life and have been blessed with quite a few bulls over the years. This was the first time I have seen a bull broke off from the skull plate like this. He was acting 100% normal, like a rutcrazed bull in the last week of September. I ended up slipping in close and sent my arrow through the boiler room @ 18 yards whiling he was trying to breed a cow. It was an exceptional morning in the brush choked mountains of Northern Idaho. The wound was very fresh, I’m thinking possibly broke off the night while battling another bull over some of the local ladies. Anyway, thought some of you may have seen this before. I’ve seen plenty of bulls with busted racks, just never one ripped off the skull. At the end of day, this is what the God Lord provided, and for that I was grateful!

Good lord that had to have hurt!. I wonder what would have happened if you hadn't of killed him. I'd assume he would have had one antler for the rest of his years?

Hmmph, how interesting. I have a Muley like that, but it was just snapped off at the pedicule junction.

How did your moose hunt go!?

What’s going man. Moose hunt was tough with warm temps, animal movement was minimal. Ended up settling on a decent bull in a diff part of the unit. Started feeling the pressure of the short 2 week season. Was hoping for a better class bull but was still content.
