I spent a week in my 12 man Kifaru tipi recently.
Had 2 days of strong wind.
Woke up one morning to find that the exposed edge of the chimney had cut into the stove jack fabric quite a long way with all the flapping of the tipi.
I've never heard of this problem. Anyone else experienced the same?
A mate was in his Supertarp with stove and he had the exact same issue.
Using some silicone coated fibreglass, heat resistant fabric I put a patch either side of the tear in the stove jack and sewed right through.
I also made a collar to fit over the chimney to cover the exposed edge where it goes through the stove jack. I used Coats Firefly aramid thread. Supposed to be heat resistant.
This should eliminate this ever happening again.
