Have a buddy that can't seem to stop himself from wacking sawbills, we got to picking a bit of fun when his half of the blind had a couple of hoodies hanging while the other side of the blind had only puddlers. It brought up a funny question, are you really feeding your kids mergansers?!? He says once you put them in with the other birds they dont complain...

Thought it was an entertaining question worth asking, thoughts on feeding your kids a merganser?

Ive seen dogs refuse to pick them up...

My wife gave me a hard time for feeding my kids roadkill. I picked up a quail while I was on a run. In my defense it was still quivering when I found it and I ate half of it as well.

This thread is gold...there is nothing wrong with mergies wrapped in bacon!

Also someone ate half a quail and then split the other half amongst his kids? How many kids and are they ants?

One time after Duck hunting I was headed back to the truck and ran into an old timer who asked how I did. I said I got a merganser, two goldeneyes, and a bufflehead. He says "so you like to eat mud ducks huh?"

I’m out on divers man… especially mergs, it’s like eating fish oil pills and liver mixed. Survival food if ya ask me haha 🤣

First duck I shot was a merganser. 4 or 5 fish slid out of its beak carrying it back to bank.
Dad cooked it, tried a bite, tried to feed to cat, threw away. Dad knew...
Haven't shot one since.
Good experience for the kids to try once I guess.
