I have not seen a ton of reviews on this particular digiscope system and so I offered to do a review for them and post my thoughts on Rokslide.

Background:
I have always struggled to find a system that I really liked. I started with PhoneSkope but did not like the phone case and the twist on attachment at the scope. I then switched to the Ollin system when it came out and loved the ease of use but hated the fact that it hindered my use of the telephoto camera when not attached to the scope. I then switched to the Magview but really struggled with it not aligning perfectly and just wasn't as fast to use for me. I found the Mountain Mag from Epoch Outdoors through Facebook and was intrigued. I liked the fact that I could use my own magsafe case and that I did not need to keep the adapter attached to my phone at all times. I also really liked that I could use the telephoto lens when I wanted to but also easily switch back to the standard lens. I reached out to them and they sent me parts 1 and 2 for my iphone 16 pro to review and give some feedback on. I am not being paid to do this review but they did send me the product for free.

Review:
I just received the adapter and have played with it a little. I know that on some of the early versions they had trouble with the magnets being too strong and the eyepiece would separate from your spotting scope when you pulled it off. Some people had to shim it to get the eyepiece to stay on the scope. I am using a Swarovski STS 65 HD and that issue seems to be resolved through my first run with it. Its a snug fit and I think it will stay put even though the magnets are pretty strong. I did have to order a more "name brand" phone case as my cheap case had the magsafe ring improperly spaced which made the Mountain Mag adapter not line up correctly. I ordered a $20 "gripmunk" case off amazon and it now lines up perfect for both lenses. The adapter also lined up perfectly when using the phone without a case with the magsafe inside the phone. The system is very easy to use and it lines up the way it should when connecting it to the phone and then to the scope.
My initial concerns are that it is made of a polymer/3d printed type material (I think, I could be wrong on that) that I think could get brittle when it gets cold. I am also looking at the downside that comes from the fact that the adapter is its own separate piece. It isn't that much bigger than the phone so you could leave it on, but it would still be in the way of your lenses. I am planning on putting it in a pocket on my bino harness and carrying it that way until I need it.

I will be testing the adapter all throughout the season and plan to put a thorough review of durability and my thoughts once I am finished hunting for the year in November. Overall my initial thoughts have me excited for it and I really think it checks a lot of the boxes for me. I will check this thread as much as I can and try to answer any questions you guys have.

Just received my mountain mag. I was a little skeptical at first but really liking it with Maven B5 15x and IPhone 16 pro max. It does add a little eye relief to the binos but it’s hardly noticeable compared to others I have used.

I am curious to see long term durability specifically if the magnets are bonded to the plastic parts well enough to not pull out.

How well do the magnets work on phone cases that are on the inside of the case? Like the otterbox pro xt? Is it stronger if there on the outside? Just wandering which case I should order. I have a Swarovski STX 95 and I am also wandering if the eyepiece is the same as the spotting scope to be able to leave it it on while glassing? Thanks

I don’t have the otter box case, mine is a smartish gripmunk case that has the magnet ring inside the plastic not on the outside. Works great. The eyepiece attachment works fine to glass through.

As long as it is a MagSafe compatible case and the magnets are aligned correctly, should work. I had a Gripmunk compatible case before I bought the adapter which as OP suggests….works well.

I have a Maven CS1. I don’t need to look through the eyepiece at all. I put the adapter on the standard lens, go to 2x on the camera app, then focus and start panning. If you want to use the telephoto lens after finding the target, lock in the pan-head and then switch the adapter from standard to the telephoto lens. If you are not going to use the eye relief best to put it to an end stop…I go all of the way clockwise on the Maven.

To check the alignment look between the phone lens and the eye-piece. Should be exactly parallel with no cant.

Mine should be here tomorrow, iPhone 15 pro max with a otter box and maven s3

Excited to try this system vs the phone scope setup i have. Watched mindful hunter review and he convinced me to try this setup.

Eyepieces for Kowa 554, SLC 10, SLC 15, STX

The eyepiece for the SLC 15s is a bit too big; phone pulls eyepiece off and they fall to the ground. Will be touching base with support to see what they can do. The other eyepieces fit well and have no issues.

Small gap on the STX but can still look through it. The eyepiece cover works well enough.

You can leave the eyepiece on and put the STX cover over it; just afraid that’ll stretch that out which then would require a new part from Swaro.

Do like that each eyepiece is specific to the optic. I also like that each eyepiece has the specific optic “printed” on it; makes it easy to know which one to grab.

I wonder why they couldn’t make the eyepiece adapter the same size opening as the spotting scope? It’s Not a big deal just curious.

I just received my Mountain Mag system. Leica APO and Iphone12 mini. The phone adaptor did not work with my Otter Box case. Bought a magesafe compatible case to replace it. The system is great, easy to use, quick to put on, everything lines up, leaving the spotting scope attachment on doesn't negatively impact normal use. It's great.

Using the iPhone instead of looking through the spotter eyepiece is really a paradigm shift for me. I am learning that getting the best tripod and fluid pan-heard that one can afford makes a difference. I recently picked up a Siriu VA-5X and installed a quick attach plate to my spotter. Game changer for me…
