Anyone using this jacket in the field and if so, what’s your opinion?
Durability?
Warmth?
Mobility?
Packability?

I bought this jacket before I went to Alaska this year for a few hunts. I was looking for a combo of rain gear and a puffy and this is what I came up with. I arrived in Alaska on 7 August and it rained just about everyday for at least some part of the day while I was there. I spent the past 35 days there, with 30 being in the field. I ordered a size medium and its just right. I can wear a fleece hoody and my bino harness under it with no issues. I stayed warm and dry throughout my trip. The first outing was for dall sheep, we went 80 miles up a river and I was always wet but it never soaked through. I also did a caribou and moose hunt, never got wet during that, even after going through alders, sitting in a light rain or splashing in a river during crossing. My only issue is the zipper, its a bit finicky. I fully intend on replacing it. Otherwise I have no complaints. I did poke a few holes in the outer layer, due to my own fault, patched them up with tenacious tape and had no other issues. It packs well, but not into its own pocket. I just stuffed it into my pack if I wasn’t wearing it. The temps never dropped below 35° so I didn’t get an opportunity to test the warmth much.

Was your EE Torrid Apex in 20, 10, or 7 fabric? I've heard different recommendations such as ordering custom and doing 10 outside and 7 inside. I think the stock jacket is 10/10.

Here is a discussion about it on Backpackinglight.com and an in-depth review you can access. You'll need to be a member to read the entire review but what is provided is still very helpful.

I have had a Torrid for a couple years and have been happy with it. Its a good, lightweight, synthetic jacket. I brought it on an early season sheep hunt this season and had no regrets about choosing it over my Kuiu Superdown. EE makes quality stuff.

The torrid apex jacket is great but in my opinion not durable enough for hunting. I use mine backpacking and am extremely careful with it due to the light shell fabric. It comes out in the evenings and I sleep in it when needed but any camp chores and it comes off.
