EMR2 VS Mountain Warrior

I live an hour and a half outside of Green Bay, in Door County (Ellison Bay to be exact), and have an EMR2, I get to Green Bay quite a bit and wouldn't mind if you want to check it out over a beer!

No spotter but in the back pouch will be my 15x56's (furthest glassing is about a mile out) and the tripod will just be compressed by the cp. I'll be hunting from the start so it'll be in the gun bearer, really like this thing, and I never plan to pack everything out at once. So meat and hide first and if my buddy still has a tag then back to hunting.

Yeah it is being picky I know and maybe it really is just the bug to try out something new and different :). Out of all the bags I've tried the T1 was my favorite. So if this setup becomes a pia I'd probably go MW :) or see what new bag Aron comes up with next year :)

Good thing is this will either work or not in Sep during bear/deer and by Nov during my elk hunt I'll know what to change/keep. I'll also add the MR daypack lid to the setup for Nov elk.

I've been day hunting with minimal gear to hauling 3 - 50# bags of corn to the feeders in less than 1 min. That front zipper and strap set up is fantastic for quickly cinching or expanding the bag. Can't say enough good things about its versatility.

I'm glad somebody asked EMR II vs. MW cause I'm in the same boat, both packs have things I like and things I don't like. I bet come fall we will get a lot more MW field reviews. Watching this thread closely.

I'm surprised these 2 packs are being compared. Spec wise they are 2 different class of packs in my opinion. The MW is perfect for a guy like me, I don't go to alaska, I always hunt Elk with multiple guys. My solo trips are black bear and blacktails, and besides my elk trip I'm never out more then 5 days. 3-5 days is my normal hunt days and this bag seems to be perfect for that.
The EMR2 while I never had one seems like an expedition pack. For guys who go 7- however many days without a basecamp, carrying LARGE loads.

I think the reason for emrII vs.MW (for me anyways) is that they are the two packs you can zip open and access the inside of the bag, as opposed to the dt1, amr, high camp witch are top loaders. I could be wrong but that is my way of thinking.

I only asked between the two because when I was talking with Joe(??maybe??) at Kifaru about the Sawtooth, he said these two bags were some of the most popular and he recommended both, and it sounded to him like both would fit my needs. I'm not comparing them, I'm just trying to find out the likes and dislikes of each bag that people actually using them have, since I cant physically go to see both of them. Plus, looking at the bags, those were the two I narrowed down in my search.

It's been great with this thread finding guys around my area and saying I can check out their bag to see first hand! I've got the EMR2 covered, still looking for that elusive Mountain Warrior yet.

LitenFast- I may just have to take you up on that offer one day you're available. I'm in GB all the time for work, and I even get up to Door County once in a great while. I may have to get up this there this week, I'll PM you if I can make it to see if it works out for you.

DenRuyter,

Being from WI I assume you do some whitetail hunting out of deer stands. If you ever want to pack a deer stand into a locale in WI and set it up to hunt out of the EMR 2 will be far better for this application than the mountain warrior. Not sure if thats enough to help tip you towards the EMR 2 but it certainly makes it more versatile for ya than just using the pack just for out west hunts.

Not saying you can't buy a grab it and such and "make it work" with the Mountain Warrior, but the EMR 2 would get good to go as a tree stand hauler right out of the box.

OP is asking about which pack for a 7-10day hunt. I'll stand by my original first response, EMR2. Mine is around 10,000 ci and I had it full on my 10 days sheep hunt. I can't Imagine a smaller pack because I didn't take anything I didn't need.

Sounds good, if I would have seen how small the EMR2 compresses in person before buying I would've had no reservations in knowing this was the pack for me. When it came I pulled out of the box and they had it compressed down and I'm like, aw crap they sent the wrong bag!!

And you definitely can haul hang on stands with it :)
