Didn't want to derail another thread and this should be a pretty simple question.

This will be my first Kifaru anything so I don't really know at all about the packs or the pockets.

If a guy were to get pockets to attach to the bottom sides, below the horizontal straps and all the pouches and wings, which pockets would fit best without hanging out too far or conversely being too small to be any good? The Long Pockets or would a Belt Pouch fit better up under there? I just can't tell the scale of the pockets relative to the pack.

And I've got my EMR II coming in Foliage. How does that look with MC? It's hard to tell online, but is it gonna look like crap with a MC lid and pockets? Or does Coyote look better with MC? Hell, maybe I should get the whole bag in MC. I sound like a 12 year old girl choosing between a white or black iphone.

I apologize for the dumb, inconsequential questions. But I've never had my hands on anything Kifaru in any of these colors and yeah...I want it to look good when I get it and not then realize I got colors that look like crap. I'd like to keep my order changes to a minimum and just get it right.

Medium and large belt pockets will work on the EMR II without issue. I am running mediums on the side of my EMR II

As far as color goes..... the coyote will go with the MC better then foliage no doubt about it.

Once you decide on your changes give me a call at the shop and I will get everything updated for you.

Thanks guys. That's the kind of info I need. Unless that thing is going to ship Monday, I'll think about it and let you know Monday. Having never seen it in person, there's so many variations in color and appearance, I need to ask those that've seen it. I've already got two medium belt pockets coming, but I was going to have those on the belt itself for GPS/map/compass in one, and rangefinder in the other.

Regardless if my main pack is foliage or Kryptek Highlander all my extra pockets (waistbelt pockets on the waistbelt or elsewhere mounted on the pack) they are all KU material....as they are lighter and I could care less about how it looks. Personally I think the KU pockets look fine against any color of pack material, but I'm more of a form follows function guy and could care less how it looks so probably not the best to seek advice on how a pack looks.

Totally agree on form/function, but doesn't mean I want an ugly bag if I have the choice. I don't wanna sound like a diva, but I hadn't given the KU a thought so I was going off of which 500D fabric looks the best, should I get caught at a social event with my pack on, lol. So I'll ask you this because you hunt here- hunting Kodiak, how do the KU do in alders with regular full season use?

Based on the listed weights, if I get four 500D belt pouches, I'd be only 4.8 ounces more than if I got four KU pouches. If I'm talking about saving 3 lbs on a tent, I'm down. And I use UL dry bags IN my pack where they're safe with me busting through alders to get up the mountain, so I'm not against saving weight were I can. And I know ounces equal pounds. But for less than 5 ounces on a 6-8lb pack, I'll take the 500D through alders and over rock with my GPS and range finder in them. If it was power bars and spare gloves, maybe. But for my navigation and ranging tools, I wanna know they're a part of the bag and I can roll down a hill with them.

Unless that KU is as tough as the 500, and in that case I'm sold. I've just never handled it, so I don't know.

Well that's what I need to know....didn't know there was a "new" foliage. Thanks.

I like foliage. My nomad set up is all foliage. You can get all accessories in foliage and most other companies foliage products match up fine too, I have MR webkeepers and hip belt pockets and they look good.

I personally like Coyote Brown. If the pack is ONLY for hunting then I would go MC/Highlander.

Also the 1000D foliage and 1000d CB play nice together as well. I have a foliage AG/MMR duplex frame in foliage with a CB AG2 pack and they don't look out of place together.

I think the only colors that would look bad would be OD/foliage, foliage/MC.

I went with he KU material for my pockets on the belt with a foliage pack and frame. Lightweight , durable, and they probably dry faster.

I try not to get to hung up on colors nor am I an expert on the durability between the KU and 500d, but you'd probably be alright either way. Mine is going to Ketch for goats and I'm probably gonna run into some class of alders and I think it will be just fine.

Hopefully it finds a home in Sitka or Kodiak in '15. Ga is lame.

I've had KU pockets on my pack since 2011 especially on my waistbelts and toplids...no holes have worn into any of them. My buddy also purchased KU pockets for all his external pockets and was skeptical going through all the Salmon berry sticks and alders on the goat hunt (especially butt sliding down it all when we took a wrong turn on the mountain). I'm impressed enough over the last 3 years of solid use that I won't buy anything but KU pockets. They don't hold moisture like Cordura does when it gets wet, that for me is the reason I got them. Yeah not a huge weight savings over the standard 500 D, its more or less the lack of moisture retention that the KU pockets have.

Oh yeah I know you aren't overly concerned with the looks, just giving ya a hard time and I do the same thing. If you are paying for pockets anyways why not try to keep it from looking hobo!

LOL, I'm going for the "Hobo chic" look on the mountain.

The water retention/dry time thing is something I didn't think about. Lemme get my crap together over the weekend I'll call Kifaru on Monday and get this stuff settled and done and then wait patiently until May 19th when it ships...
