Email alternative

With the list of corporations that are wanting to take away our freedoms growing I'm looking for alternatives. Dollar Shave Club sent an email a week ago saying that they are donating $100,000 to the organization Black Lives Matter. Now if they were giving that money to the real BLM I might be more inclined to stick with them. Of course there are many others such as Dicks Sporting Goods, Levi's, Target, Walmart, etc. that don't get my money.

I have been using Gmail for the past 13 years or so and have liked that my Google account gets me in to YouTUBE and I have cloud storage for my files. It's a great service, but when they are deciding who's voice gets heard I'm out. What is everyone using instead of Gmail? I would be willing to pay a small monthly fee to have better security, not have my messages shared with third parties, and someone who believes in the US Constitution and individual liberty. I'm sure I'm chasing a ghost but there has to be something.
 
I don't think Google is your problem....they're not deciding that you get an email from Dollar Shave Club. It's probably one of the places you've used your email address when buying something, signing up for a forum, etc. for the past thirteen years.

That’s not my point. I was a subscriber to Dollar Shave Club and dropped them because of their support for the Black Lives Matter Organization. I am wanting to drop Google because of their censoring of conservatives. I never have done the twitter or facebook thing. Just trying to navigate the maze of lefty tech
 
I do, which sucks because that is the only “TV” that I have. I don’t care for sports or the news. I watch Randy and Corey and other outdoor shows, that’s it.
 
I have never seen so much payoff in my life. Every damn guilty Corp is dumping money into these specious organizations in an attempt to stave-off attacks from the left. The problem is that those very corporations are the ones that will be targeted, not for their issues with race, but of $$$$. They’ve got it, the left wants it. If anyone thinks this is just about crooked cops or “social justice,” think again. It’s about utter transformation and deconstruction of a way of life. You need to actually listen to what they say. Pathetic.
 
Proton mail is a good encrypted email. They offer a free basic service that is good for some. Then they offer a premium/paid service as well.

Bluehost is a good website/domain hosting site that is pretty cheap. I use them for my business website. You can get email thru them.
 
I have tried dumping Google multiple times in the past 10 years, but always slowly end up using their product suite again. My reasons for leaving have to do with privacy and their intentional degradation of services regarding firearms. My reasons for edging back are functionality. I wish you better luck than I have had.

Secure email providers (such as Protonmail, Tutanota, Mailfence, and Hushmail) are a good alternative. Duck Duck Go instead of Google for searches, and Firefox rather than using Chrome. Not sure where exactly Mozilla stands on political issues though.
 
The number one rule of the internet is "If you are not paying, you are the product, not the customer". Keep in mind, Rokslide also sells your attention to various companies, just like Google/Facebook/IG/etc.

You will not get the levels of security and availability with 2nd or 3rd tier providers that you will with Google/Microsoft. And, unless you are fairly technical and don't mind spending the time, I would advise against self hosted email.

Proton is fairly widely known and would probably be a decent choice, but you will never escape politics with the tech you use.

If you want to move away from Google, for privacy reasons, you might look at a person O365 subscription as it will give you access to office and onedrive as well. Microsoft of today is not the same as it was 10 years ago, they charge for services vs selling your data to advertisers, so somewhat better than Google.

New email service called hey.com is launching soon and is worth looking at, if for no other reason then to understand the privacy concerns with email they are trying to address.
 
I use disroot.org, but I’ve heard proton mail is good as well. Ultimately, you’re still choosing to trust your provider, whoever it is. The only way to really guarantee privacy is to self host, but that’s obviously not feasible for your average joe. If you do explore the self hosted route there’s plenty of good guides that have come out recently. If not, maybe look into PGP encryption for private conversations.
