Alright, so I didn't think I would get an opportunity to hunt elk this year due to work, Reserves, and school constraints, but I was able to get 3 days away from it all. So my question is, is it worth me driving out to Coleville National Forest to try to hunt? I was looking around at units 111 and 113, just trying to decide where to go for the three days I have. If anyone has any pointers or any other ideas, I'd be forever grateful. Heck, I'll come with you just to pack out meat if needs be. I'm not looking for any trophy bulls, just want to get an elk in the freezer. Thanks!

well...
you are pretty late to the game, season opens tomorrow morning. 'trophy bulls' are draw only, as are cows...so you're stuck with spikes if you have a general tag.
people in NE WA who know where the elk are, are very tight lipped about it.
as for elk numbers..skip those areas and head to the 300 series units (rimrock, umntanum, manastash, bethel, etc)..more elk, but also more people.
but if you're in the spokane area you should just look into idaho.
good luck.

I've had some success in 124 for archery elk in the late season. Never hunted 111, 117.... I know people kill some dandy bulls in 113 close to the idaho border, but that's about as specific as I know... Sorry, I couldn't be more help. Good luck.

That's plenty of help. Thanks very much. That gives me some idea of where to go. I'm just glad to get out for a few days, even if I end up not slamming anything. Thanks again!
