I agree about being good at one method! But better to be adequate on both! (grin) Personally I enjoy hunting all types of terrain for elk, I don't like the idea of not hunting elk where they live because I don't know how, instead I'd rather learn how & up my odds for success by being versatile no matter the conditions! But to each his own!
Until you've called in countless bulls on OTC public land hunts you won't appreciate the thrill & challenge of hunting elk at the highest levels. I've slipped in silently to several bulls, some I took & some I didn't, it's not the same adrenaline rush I get through calling. Yes, both can be productive & exciting in their own way. Good luck!
