Are these magazines worth looking into?

I'm asking from a newb standpoint, as far as picking up a few tips learning some things, drooling over gear and ads or move along?

These two are at the top of the list for me. I subscribe to these, both Eastmans publications and Extreme Elk.

i get both.

they are the only two i get. they are okay. i dont rush thru them like when i was a kid and i just got my outdoor life..i think magazines can get sorta repetitive.

same ads, same story of trial and tribulations.. i do like the gear and workout stuff.

I find they are a bit heavy on advertising. (It does pay their bills). The worst part is that a lot of them are great products. Every time I set one down I end up with an itch to search a product and potentially buy it! A few weeks ago I even fell for their subscribers advertising. Both mags are ordered! Guess they must be doing something right.

Western Hunter TV show sure jumped to the top of my list this year - very well done!

I would buy them over eastmans but Extreme Elk and Bugle are my top pics.

I get Hunting Fool, both Eastmans and both of these. I think Elk Hunter and Western Hunter are the best. I've saved a number of their articles because they are a great reference. More tips and reviews, where the others are 95% stories. Great pics, but nothing very useful when only stories. I'm dropping hunting fool, especially after they doubled their price for the only real reason I used them, getting outfitter recommendations, which only occurs every few years when I draw a premium tag in another state. Eastmans is similar to hunting fool but more reasonably priced.

Already supporter of RMEF...just signed up for Elk Hunter Mag, looking forward to it!

I don't get Elk Hunter, but sure do enjoy Western Hunter. It has some good tips in there if one takes the time to read vs. skim those sections. I usually do a quick skim through it the first day and then take the time on the articles and tips that interest me. Well worth it. Tony Bynum's article on photography are very helpful.

I really like the photography tips as well. They are all relevant to the outdoor experience.
