Elk "boneyard" due to rockslide

A few years ago we found where a herd of cattle ran off a cliff. A lot older than that event, but chilling nonetheless. A huge prairie that ended in a point that dropped off 20-30 feet. A pile of them. Probably spooked by a storm.

Imagining how long it took some of them to die was the worst part. It is very remote and I doubt anyone knew I had happened right away.

Not elk but a number of years ago I found a draw with the bones of 30 plus beef. Each with bullet hole in the head.

Turns out that cows were on pasture for summer and chose not come out with the snow. When they found them the snow was too deep to save them so they went in by snowcat and shot them.

Migrating mule deer got taken out by an ice chute, according to the article it happens about every 25 years

I remember reading about this didn’t it kill something like over 100 deer?

Yep 120+
One buck found missing his left antler had 101" on tje right side. Think most of these deer summer in Yosemite and have a shot at growing pretty big
