Time to mark vac and I am thinking 3 weeks in September. The early onset planning is another Montana Idaho combo but havnt put the JBWeld to it. Not even sure if I want to kill 2 elk or just one and then go after lion and wolf. I don't need 2 elk worth of meat, and I am not about killing more than I legitimately need unless I can contribute to really needy family's.

I struck out in Idaho this year but what I found could lead to a easy kill in 2017, plus I could hunt lion and wolf there too. If money is tote, I might skip Montana all together. Doing a lot of research on calling cats and I think that would be a blast with archery gear. Not looking for a trophy cat, just a legal one.

I am getting excited just typing this. Lot of hunting to do before then, but I still can not wait!!

A couple of things that would be advantageous to know is when the rut is suppose to fall and the full moon. Full moon is on the 5th. Moon will get good again around the 24 th.

Hadn't thought about next season's full moons; good point. I'm retired, so I don't need to be thinking about vacation requests, and that helps in the planning.

I think if you can kill elk with this years super harvest moon than moon phase shouldn't be to big of a worry
