I stopped by cabelas today to pick up a few boxes of 175 ELDx. I was happy to see they had 3 boxes in stock but thrown off a bit after looking a little closer. 3 for 3 with different BCs...

I know there was a change early on with the tips from the translucent ones to the duller red ones, but is anyone familiar with more significant changes?

the sort of thing I've personally come to expect from Hornady (OH, and they NEVER make a mistake)

I picked up 1 box from two stores of .30 225gr for @Ryan Avery and he had some over pressure issues from the older of the two boxes. Don't remember exactly what caused it.

There have definitely been some physical changes to some of the ELDs beyond just getting better testing info as evidenced by the picture below copied from another thread. Was curious if there was anything to look out for. I ended up only buying the box with the BC's that matched what I had at home, I'll try to do that going forward.

I believe Rich(?) Sherman designer of the Sherman wildcat cartridges measured differing bullet diameters on some early runs of the bullets which would definitely make a difference in pressure in addition to the bearing surface changes illustrated below.

I saw the same thing on some 200 Grain 30 Cal bullets last week. BC was listed at .596 not the normal .626

Saw this with some 100 grn 243 interlocks. No bc listed on box, but totally different bullet profiles and length (could see without measuring). and of course they don't shoot the same...……...like we need more variables
