El Nino? When does it start?

If you're a fisherman/surfer on the west coast below the channel islands, it started 7 weeks ago.

70 degree water in June, that's unheard of, but it's happening.

One of these fish is a floating kelp paddy fish (very early in the season for Kelp paddys around here)

If arthritis counts I can predict El Nino, not today hot and dry.

I think it has more to do with the whole Hurricane season (June 1 to Dec 1), not just a short period of time. Sometimes the Atlantic season is more favorable for storms and their formation but now the weather folks are predicting less favorable in the Atlantic, but more favorable in the Pacific. Has something to do with the winds aloft which makes or breaks a Hurricane forming and movement.
