With the dry winter and the current state of water in the west there are all kinds of speculation about what fire season and fall hunting seasons are going to be like. Fire bans, low water in the rivers etc. There is also a prediction of a major El Nino this year. What I'm curious about is when does that start? When is that rain etc. going to be hitting the west?

Mid atlantic prediction is warmer but wetter winter. My area has been semi drought stricken for a coupleyears now so bring on the rain. Also been fortunate that all our rain has been mostly gentle rain so not lots of runoff.

It's already here but the peak effects usually don't come until later in the year and into the next. With the predicted strength of the current el nino, the impacts might not line up like previous ones.

They always over forecast the El Nino years, Most of time it is a big disappointment. Monsoon usually turns into a nonsoon. That's sucks for us been dry for a long time. Fire danger is way up, we've got a few big ones going.:(

It already started and does not necessarily mean increased precip. Forecasts show "above average" precip for CO through July before returning to average for the rest of the year and into 2027.
