I am booked to hunt a fly in moose hunt with Effords in Oct 2025. Can anyone hunting with them post some pics of their trophies?
This was our first time and we ended up shipping it home. Knowing what I know now, I plan to drive next time. Cost to ship home was/is around $2000 per moose. We paid for it to be processed there at $520 per moose, then add the $2000 to ship it home ($2500ish) each moose. For the 4 of us it’s a chunk of change!! I’m booked to go back in 2027 and will just drive. That being said, we are on the west coast, so shipping to the west coast gets a bit complicated, as the closest cold storage they would ship to was in Tulsa Oklahoma, so we then had to arrange shipping from there to home.out of curiosity what do you all do with the meat. Do you ship it or do you drive?
If you ship what’s the cost?
To Tulsa was $1200.Sorry I should have asked how much was shipping to tulsa as thats only a couple hours from me
Thanks for the reply and pics!! Those bulls are all very impressive. Very excited to get there next year.I just got back from hunting with Effords, a group of 4 of us went together and we all tagged out. We had a great time, accommodations were awesome, the guides really knew what they were doing. We all shot bulls that we were happy with. 2 guys tagged out on day 1. Two of us passed on a few smaller bulls (30-38”) I ended up shooting a 44” bull and the other shot a 42” bull. We were at Cochran pond.
great question. I plan to fly. I called and asked about shipping and it sounded like shipping was around $550. I may have to ask around more about this. I prefer to drive but its a 40hr drive. I am in central Ohioout of curiosity what do you all do with the meat. Do you ship it or do you drive?
If you ship what’s the cost?
Effords and the shipping company took care of everything!Thats not bad,did you have to box yourself and take to shipper?
Out of curiosity, how so?If I had moose pics I would post them but I don’t, Effords is a crook!
Oh Geez! Yeah I would have been pissed!!Booked a drive in hunt in 2015 at his Gander hunting camp. One of the references calls very late and informs us that Effords sold the camp after we booked it and never told us. One of our criteria for hunting with him was “we could walk out the back door if the cabin and start hunting, no long drives to hunt”!
When one if our guys called him on it he sent an aerial photo of the camp, it was his fly out fishing camp on a lake with a lot of houses (local hunters).
When we get to the camp we are told we have a 2 1/2-3 hour one way ride to hunt “our area”. We are all pissed off and want to talk to Effords, he is “unavailable”. The hunt consisted of 70 year old guides driving up and down roads (road hunting)! We would turn down a road, two local trucks coming out, two behind us. The guides refused to go into the woods. They didn’t know the area. I never saw a moose. Two out of five guys killed a moose road hunting, not what we signed up for. We ran into a lot of tree planters, you have to case your rifle going into these areas.
When Effords sold the camp, he should have told us, offered us a refund or a better camp. He just took our money and squeezed us in his fishing camp. He is is a crook!
