Has anyone try one of these? I'm looking for a light weight vest with wind protection, some warmth but doesn't need to be an oven as I want to wear it on the move. At 8.8 oz and breathable side panels looks somewhat appealing also the material doesn't look to reflective. I've looked at the soft shells not much warmth to weight and most synthetics not much wind protection. So if anyone has any similar options that are around $100 I'd be game to hear about them.

Vests aren't great for wind ... opens arms. MicroTherm is 800wt "StormDown." I (personally) wouldn't wear it, opting instead for PrimaShield if you want packability or Climashield if you want more warmth. Just not a fan of down, even treated down, unless it's well below freezing (eg, belay jacket.)

Other than that, it's a vest - don't over think it. Besides, you might not even like wearing one.

Sears/Kmart has good deals and usually lots of EB.

$15 right now, no idea on weight, but worth your time to look!

$15 if you want microfleece instead

Kohl's has good deals all the time, especially on clearance.

How about http://www.rei.com/product/883575/exofficio-storm-logic-vest-mens-2014-closeout ?

If I'm buying a "top end" vest, it'll likely be a Patagonia Nano Puff if money's a concern and I really wanted a name-brand.

If money is no object, I'm buying a 2015 Patagonia Nano Air vest - the FullRange insulation is the same Toray 3DeFX stuff that Kuiu's using in their Kenai jacket. Stuff is supposed to be amazing.

G'luck.

Well I'm changing my setup for this next year and trying out the Kenai jacket. Have heard it's not the most wind resistance or the warmest at times. So my thought is to couple it with a down vest to maintain core temperature if needed or use it stand alone. My down is just to much most of the time as a mid layer or active hike. Even with it clear out some wind can be around, so the vest would work double duty without bringing my shell. I'm just looking for some different layering options I'm tired of fleece.

I will often carry/wear a simple windproof softshell vest in conjunction with my other layers. Right now it is an older Marmot driclime vest, but the Sitka jetstream lite seems very similar weight-wise and it comes in camo, but it is also more expensive - both of those might be of interest to you.

The first Ascent vest will be warmer. I have the microtherm jackets and they are nice but they don't have as much fill
