Anyone on here use the Eberlstock F1 Mainframe with various components? I am looking to upgrade to a larger pack for 4-5 day hunts and this appears to be an excellent option. I am considering the F1 mainframe with 2 batwings and a dry bag. fairly light and plenty of space. once I get in there, I can drop the dry bag and hunt light.

I want to see if there is any actual reviews of this setup, and if there is something I am missing. thanks!

on another note; Eberlestock Team Elk for sale if anyone needs!

There are a couple of threads on here regarding tthat. I recently set up the tall mainframe with the bat wings. I have only used it on training hikes so far as I won’t be doing a backpack hunt this year. I also have the dry bag but haven’t tried it out yet. I do like the tall mainframe (I’m 6-2) with the large hip belt. I get more lift and comfort than any other eberlestock I’ve tried. I have a regular size mainframe I will be selling in the classifieds when I get around to it.

ok, great feedback. I am 5-11, would a regular mainframe work for me? how much will you be selling it for? maybe I will buy it one I sell my TeamElk!

I'd say go for the tall. I'm 5'10 and have the regular mainframe, which fits just fine, but my understanding is that that the tall would allow you to utilize higher load lifters to help with a heavy pack.

Also they customer service is really helpful if you want to give them a call.

I like the Eberlestock pack I have (J107 Dragonfly) as a day pack, but without the load lifters it's pretty uncomfortable with more than 40# in it. Looking at the Mainframe, it looks like you have to go with the tall version to get some legit improvement in that area. By then you're already at 5 lbs. without so much as a batwing on it. :(

this is still significantly lighter than your dragonfly. the dragonfly is 9 lbs (ok, 89 lbs 14 oz)

Large F1 is 4.5 lbs
2 batwings - 1.5 lbs
1 dry bag - 1 lb
total - 6.5 lbs, and it has the same capacity as the dragonfly with 2.5lbs left behind.

if you add the scabbard, that is an additional 1.5 lbs so now your only down 1 lbs from the dragonfly.

the real beauty of this, in my opinion, is that for day hikes you can take only the frame with the batwings for a 6 lb pack.

This is a pack system I’m also considering. How does the F1 mainframe or the M1 handle heavy loads? It looks like a smaller frame so are heavy loads like elk quarters a bit much for this system?

My f1 mainframe handles a load really well. I was thinking of getting the tall version, but saw a mod on here to get a little more height out of the load lifters that I want to try.

Can't say anything about the m1 since I don't have any experience with it, but this guy ran a 10k with 100lbs strapped to his.

Eberlestock has a few other videos online a well about how much their packs can handle.

I have the regular mainframe and the transformer F2. Tent and sleeping bag fit well on the outside and I can make it work for a 4-5 day elk hunting trip. I like the setup and don’t have an abnormal amount of discomfort as long as I crank the load lifters down. That said, I’m 6’7” and may end up selling it to get the tall setup.

Can’t say enough about the durability of these packs. They are bomb proof and carry 80 lbs (or more) without a second thought.

Thanks for the review! I will be buying the F1 mainframe in tall, and I am only 5-11! I couldn't imagine the regular being ok for you at 6-7.

I crank the load lifters down and it works surprisingly well. Or could just be that I’m used to a poor fit given my height.
