eBay clothing smells- How to get rid of them?

My ex was a vet. When skunks hit dogs she used dawn and peroxide. It worked amazingly well. I have been using dawn on all of my hunting clothes for years with great luck. It actually breaks down the oils in the fabric....so on some wool you'll need to move quickly to not smoke the natural oils.

I use Charlie's Soap Laundry Powder. Fill up my bath tub and agitate the clothes by hand and let them soak. It's worked to get the funk out of wool clothes I have bought off of Ebay.

Try dry baking soda on it for 24hrs to absorb the odor. Then hand wash it gently in water & vinger. And hang/lay flat on a towel to dry.
(Follow the cleaning instructions on the label. Unless the label say it’s ok to wash in a machine, I would not wash 100% wool in a washer machine. I made that mistake once, and I was shocked at how much it shrunk.)

I don't get the point of this combination. An acid (vinegar) + base ( baking soda) = water, carbon dioxide, and in this case a salt. I'm not sure it's really an effective cleaner. Fun reaction though.

To the OP; seriously, why would you keep buying stuff like that off of eBay if you keep having that happen??

I should've clarified - I don't mix them. I use whichever one we have at the house when it's time to wash. The baking soda seems to take the funk out pretty well,
