on the prowl for a new waterproof non insulated jacket, whats everyone using that's budget friendly for sept elk.?

For where. Big difference between Montana and coastal Oregon. Most budget friendly is the Frogg Toggs... $19.99. Will last a couple of years of average use, and is light. For coastal (and Idaho some years). Helly Hansen Impertech are tough, absolutely waterproof and fairly inexpensive if you watch for sales.

If you don’t need camo then Outdoor Research has a few good options. Field Supply and Camofire have Browning. Camofire also has Kryptek. Lots of options.

I've had great luck with Marmot Precip. In fact, I like it almost as well as my Sitka Raingear. You can usually find it in brown or green for around $50. I like mine so well that I have 2 sets. Make sure what ever rain jacket you buy has pitzips or you will get wet from the inside-out!

Marmot precip is actually pretty good as long as you aren’t in an area where you will be rained on for days straight.

I have a Marmot jacket that is one step up from the Precip. It's PacLite with pit zips in grey. Think I paid about $100 for it.
