Easton 5.0 Failure

I’ve read on archery talk how these fail, I’ve commented here about how mine have been fine but tonight I had a failure. I didn’t Robin Hood one, but it was a tight, arrows touching shot group and one splintered all to hell when I pulled it out of the target.

Didn’t look out of the normal until I flexed it, then it was pretty obvious it was done for.
Which spine were you shooting?

Unfortunately, I think this is the game that's played with lighter arrows. Can't have your cake and eat it too. I thought about switching to 5.0's or HLR's but the rip tko's just shoot too good, so why mess with something that ain't broke? No pun intended.

the 5.0’s remind me of the year I shot Spartans, I’m not interested in playing that game. Anything more fragile than the rampage is not a consideration for me. For those having good luck with the 5.0’s, I hope it continues, but I don’t remember ever seeing so many reports of arrows breaking as the 5.0

I've been happy with my Spartans, but I'm shooting a 250 spine. I never had a huge problem with the Rampage either. But I think I'm done with the 5mm arrows. It could just be my brain saying "gotta bullet proof it" but I feel like having a fully supported tip insert that comes with the next size up arrow(spartans and 6.0) is the most ideal

These 5.0 threads have me questioning if I want to take them on my elk hunt…
They are flying really good for me!

Gouged another one during practice. It doesn’t crack when flexed, but my finger nail grabs on it easy, so it’s going in the garbage. I wasn’t shooting groups, but was shooting at 60 yards and pulled one shot into another. This is the second one I’ve done that to ( a gouge like this). I’ve slapped other arrows together shooting groups and never had them gouge so easy. I’m losing confidence in overall durability of these.

What issues did you have with the BE Spartans?
They were just really brittle for me. At least 2 were ruined by shooting too close to another arrow and caving in the side, didn’t break nocks (not direct hits)

I bought a dozen to try out and they were dropping like flies. I gave the remaining few to the kid I gave my old bow to so he had something to shoot but I never ended up hunting with them because I was trashing them too fast and didn’t want to further invest

Mine were 300’s

Great tolerance on them (both spine and straightness) an arrow I want to revisit is the renegade, if the spine tolerance is as good as most BE’s, it’s probably about perfect for me, I have built a couple dozen, which one was mine for my recurve, and those seemed like a very durable shaft. All I know is I don’t care to chase light gpi shafts personally, I tried and they ain’t for me

I have been shooting them for last 3 months. I have only broken one arrow, but it definitely seemed like a weak break meaning another arrow hit it on a glance off straight on. Like many have said I didn’t expect this arrow to be as durable as the axis. You have to pay the tollman if you want to shoot a lighter arrow. It’s definitely an accurate arrow. I have no issues or a lack of confidence that it will kill an elk or a deer. If you’re looking for durability test shoot a different arrow. It’s pretty simple if you want a durable arrow, don’t shoot it.
