My dad killed a Antelope a couple years ago the ears look like they where cut in half. Bio said could have froze or some times cowboys catch a fawns a band them or in this case cut the ears off. Anyone ever see this type of thing before? Its a very clear strait line. Just interested if anyone else has seen this before or something like it. Ill post a picture of the mount.

yes, baby annylopes are easy to catch until they get a few days old. many cowboys earmark them with the same cuts, as the ranch they work for, use on their cattle.......

I’ve seen plenty of critters with either split ears or completely missing ears. If I had to guess, it was likely weather related.

I spent a few years cowboying in Wyoming and Montana. While we caught a few antelope, (tried for elk and bears, too!) the last thing on our mind was ear marking them.

I have heard it can be owls too. When the deer are bedded and just moving their ears sometimes an owl will attack the ear thinking it is a small critter. The talons are pretty darn sharp and ears are thin so it might be plausible.
