Earbuds , headphones, or what?

My cheap Bluetooth earbuds that I use for mowing and other yard work finally chit the bed today. They sucked, but did the job ok for a few years. I need to replace them. I'd like to use headphones but I need to wear a hat due to having no hair, so that is out of the question. Are there any earbuds that you folks would recommend that offer an NRR (noise reduction rating) rating as well as Bluetooth for my yard maintenance activities? Maybe something other than earbuds that I don't even know about? I like to listen to podcasts or music, and not engine noise of tractors, blowers, trimmers, etc. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

I regularly fly on airplanes to work and use the AirPod Pro 2s. If you have an iPhone already they are well worth it. Their noise cancelling is very good and the user interface (voice interface) is great with texts and phone calls. Siri says what the text is and who is calling so I don’t have to get my phone out. I also use them mowing/weedwhacking. Anything loud that isn’t shooting.

I use Shokz headphones and love them. If I am using loud equipment, I put earplugs in for the noise and then use thee headphones for music. When I go running or something like that I don’t put earplugs in which lets me hear things around me but can still hear the music. They are awesome.

Ditto the AirPod pros. They are freaking sweet, not technically protective equipment, but they help to deaden sounds significantly.

I use the Axil ear buds almost daily. From mowing, to shooting, to running heavy equipment, they work awesome.

I will just say stay away from Bose earbuds. They have a lot of connectivity issues and they fade in and out of reception.

Just curious if you were using Apple or Android? I have 2 pairs of the Bose QuietComfort Ultras and they've been flawless. They've got the best noise cancelling I've used, and I've got piles of earbuds and over the ear headphones.

Check out ISOtunes products. They are ANSI and OSHA certified when used with the foam tips.

The Pro 2s are great as long as you aren’t moving much. They don’t stay seated very well during activities (yes, they are fitted according to mfg specifications) and mine seem to fluctuate in volume level quite a bit during an activity. Highly advise against these.

Must be an ear difference. I run in mine frequently without issue. I also have not experienced the volume fluctuation. Do you have conversational awareness on? I would look in your settings, as volume should be fixed unless you have done something in settings.

If you're open to the headphones-over-hat approach, the noise cancellation of the Sony MX-1000XH5 is the best I've encountered. Sound quality is a bonus and they utilize an app that gives you pretty fine grained control over sound/NRR, etc. They're spendy but I've had mine since they came out with no issues.

Yep! You’re absolutely correct. And did all that. They’re fine as long as Im not up and moving around. No help from CS either. Will never buy again. I just keep em at my desk now.

But they don't protect your hearing...

I prefer ear buds, currently using a Festool branded set. Pretty sure they're rebranded isotunes, I've had several sets of them, always been pleased.
