This upcoming season will be my first with a suppressed rifle. I do a small amount of my hunting from a tent/ground blind. This has always been a scenario that mandated ear protection. Should that still be the case? I don’t plan on using any when hunting open woods, but I’m curious as to yalls experience hunting out of a tent.

Have you tried using ear buds with an audiobook or podcast?

Usually my shot opportunities are at about 200+ yards so I'll do this. No need to hear anything.

Sure helps pass the day away.

Just got some axil ear buds that are true ear pro. So far they seem to work good.

Cans are great. But they're not perfect.
I was shooting gophers with the 223 last week. Got lazy and didn't have ears in. Like oh it's basically at 22 lr level of noise. Yeah I definitely rung my bell a little at the end of the day.

I’m the wrong dude to ask. I cooked my ears as a kid and teenager. Shotguns and unbraked unsuppressed center fires don’t bother me in hunting applications. Personally, I wouldn’t bother with fiddling with ear pro in the situation you described with a suppressed rifle, but only you can make that call.
