I always start with a rabbit distress, then female whimpers and then pup distress/fights. If I start with vocals first that usually stops any fox of cats coming to the call. Everyone loves a good cotton tail distress.
Kinda look around and notice what kinda small game animals/bird are around in the area while you're there. That includes Birds! Don't Sleep on using a Bird call for Coyotes too! Like if you see there are the Blue Scrub Jays, and you have a distress for that, you know, it boosts the deception because he knows those are all over the place in his area there. That Nutty Nuthatch has done well a time or two for me. In high desert Juniper patch.
