I have a new stainless barreled action I need to finish. Anyone have experience using Duracoat?

I've used it on one barreled action. I've used it on A LOT of stocks. I think the best description of it is it's a really good paint. I wouldn't recommend it for the inside of an action, mainly due to thickness. For a barrel it's a decent outer coating. It's really good for stocks.

I've used it personally on a 10/22 action, and have never used it since. Between the amount of prep work, learning its application the hard way, and the end results of the finish and quality of the material, I decided that the overall experience and value of doing it myself just wasn't worth it. Better value has been had since in just handing a gun off to an experienced cerakote guy, and pay the cash for a much better end result.

But - if I was just tinkering, wanted something useable at home, and was ready for a learning curve and liked doing it myself, it's fine.

I agree it’s too thick for actions. It is fairly durable but takes a while to fully cure.
I used it on several firearms but now I use spray paint with flat clear overcoat.
