I am looking at having my carbon bow done. Im looking for someone who does good work. I know I can't ceracoat the riser or limbs. Any suggestions please?

I have duracoat and cerakot on two guns + my 2015 Elite Synergy uses "procote" which I think is the new and improved cerakote. Not sure why you couldnt use cerakote on risers and limbs (maybe because they are carbon?).

I think that duracoat sticks better than cerakote to plastic parts like gun stocks but I think that cerakote sticks better to metal parts than duracoat does. Not sure about carbon.

yeah Ive done the research and know you cant ceracoat or powdercoat because of the carbon not being able to be baked. Just trying to find a shop that can do what Im looking for

Duracoat has some flexability so it would probably work better on the carbon riser. I used Duracoat on my rifle stock and it has held up well so far.

There is a guy on ArcheryTalk forum that does that work. Very popular amongst the members. Tony219er I think. Good luck.

I do duracoat finished on firearms. I've thought about doing a bow, but never got around to it. Mainly because once I get things tuned, I don't want to mess with it again. Duracoat is all about the prep work. With firearms you get best results by blasting the surface with aluminum oxide to get it roughed up, which allows for a better bind with the finish. This would probably be ok to do with an aluminum or mag riser, but I wouldn't want to do it with carbon. I have talked to guys that do bows, and they've told me they just rough up the finish with steel wool and/or sand paper by hand. Thats all good, but over time I'd be concerned about the durability of the finish. It will flake or chip off in areas that did not bond well. There are just too many nooks and crannys in a riser to sand all off the surface by hand. Some risers would be easier to do than others. All of the finishes I have seen look great, just wonder how well they hold up over time. Here are some of the firearm finishes I have done for customers.
