Duck Wall Alternatives

Anyone have anything they do in place of mounts to remember their hunts/show off their ducks? I’d always thought getting a Drake of each species mounted would be cool, but with the cost of taxidermy each mount just about pays for doing a day of guided hunts or 3-4 days of DIY and I’d rather go hunt than stare at a wall of ducks.

Bounced around the idea of a photo collage but felt that seemed a little pretentious to have that many photos of me hanging around, current thought is maybe a small photo album on the shelf underneath of my current (3) mounts.

If you wanted to DIY, you could consider a "feather mount". They're very popular right now, all over Instagram, google All Feathers Taxidermy for an example. You can find tutorials online. I've never done a duck like this but I've done lots of turkey fans and it's the same principle. Then you could show off each species with their particular plumage (assuming you have nice drakes to mount)

Cool idea for sure, might give this a test run on a shoveler I have sitting in the freezer.

I’m kind of in the same boat. Wall space is limited, taxidermy prices have gotten steep and turn around times are astronomical. But I hate photos of myself. I was considering photos of the birds but without me in them.

I love the looks of those feather mounts but I’m intimidated by the process. I may try a condensed version.
