Looking at Duck hunting around these areas over Thanksgiving. Never been on the Yellowstone or Bighorn rivers. I was thinking of bringing a canoe. would this be a waste of time with a canoe on these rivers?? Are they to shallow? to fast for a canoe. Could a guy get by with just waders? any advise would be apperciated.
Thanks

Speaking for the BH it's very doable to float it with a canoe. Plenty of people hunt it for waterfowl. Float a section and just kill birds as you're cruising, or find a decent section and put out some decoys.

Might be worth getting a permit from the Crow and hunting a section on their land south of Hardin. Call the agency and ask some questions.

there is a lot of people that hunt the 'Horn. If you want to decoy, weather really dictates how good the hunting is. But there should be birds around. The Yellowstone is really too big to float and hunt, but if you hit the right gravel bar with a decoy spread you can pile them up.
