Dual tape on Spott Hogg Fast Eddie?

Dual tape setups?

Looking to shoot TAC next summer, and probably will set up/pick up a lighter weight or at least lower cost arrow setup so I'm not quite so upset when I lose one.

Had anyone used one of the 3D printed dual tape adapters for their sight? Or maybe split a sight tape down the middle?

Or just sight for setup B for TAC and swap back to my regular tape for the rest of the year?

It can be done. I have printed narrow tapes on PC to have a single pointer work as a 2 or 3 pin incidactor. I would maybe be worried about using the wrong tape in the wrong situation with hunting.

Just a question, but why would you want to hunt with a different arrow setup than tac? If it makes you hit the target better, it will make you hit the animals better too. This heavy arrow stuff is just a bunch of clickbait, for compounds. I have run 5-6 grains per pound for decades and have blown through a lot of stuff with large mechanical bh. Maybe for dangerous game I would use a heavier arrow to get better (slower) speed for coc fixed heads. Otherwise, over the years, I have used more or less draw weight as desired to get more penetration. I can see wanting to shoot 60-65# for tac and 70+ to hunt, but that is a whole set-up change beyond sight tapes. I'm just really curious what your thought process is for a different arrow for tac unless it is just a cheaper arrow.

Doing some quick math.

My current arrow build costs about $30/per when built by the dozen using supplies bought from Lancaster and Iron Will. These tip the scale right around 480.

Using "prebuilts" I can get that per shaft cost down closer to 15/per and probably shed somewhere near 75-80 grains of arrow weight serving the dual purpose of flattening the trajectory AND making it a little less painful to lose one, and i KNOW I'm gonna lose/break one or more. That a part of TAC

Now, I have a cheaper setup more suited to the longer ranges I'd see at TAC and a significantly cheaper setup and I've got plenty of time between now and TAC to adjust and between TAC and hunting to adjust back if needed.

A new bow is probably coming in the spring, depending on how my budgets work out over winter. At that time, i may change up my current hunting setup a bit and shed about 25gr by going from the 75 to the 50gr HIT

Currently, I don't think I have the scope clearance to shoot the 120+ ranges seen @ TAC so I'm brainstorming solutions to get setup for those ranges.

I've used the 3d printed wheel that slips on the spott hogg tape wheel. It works. It allows me to transition from my indoor target arrows to 3d arrow on my target bow.

I have enough trouble reading a single yardage tape on them, can't imagine trying to use 2 on them.


Not really helping your situation, but could get a different sight thats similar to what you are currently using and be able to do what you want.

As I'm understanding the wheel, it fits tight to the knurled outer ring, locks with a set screw and you turn the 3D printed bit?

No, your sight doesn't have a scale. I guess you could cross reference yards, make a chart.

Some sights, like the Tommy and Hogg Father have a scale on them. You can use a program like Archers Advantage, plug in a little info, and your yards and correlating scale number and it will build a chart to tell you what to use for your yards. And will print custom sight tapes off it.

Here's an example:


The round wheel on those sights has numbers, then the lock/dial has numbers. 30.6 is the round wheel indicator on 30 and the dial showing 6.

It makes it really easy to setup tapes. I pretty much won't use a sight that doesn't have that feature anymore. Its not something you can do with your current sight, but if changing bows I was bringing it up as you could change to a little different sight and gain a feature that you might find pretty helpful.
